Testimony Behind Winning The Game:

After 10 years of operating, Exciting Ministries was recharged from a personal near-tragedy. Imagine being a parent receiving a call from your kids teacher that they had thoughts of harming themselves. Now imagine that you, having years of experience in leadership in education, ministry, social services, and coaching, that this unfathomable moment came knocking on your door. Imagine being a parent navigating the journey of feeling helpless as you try to protect your children from the darkness that comes to claim their lives. Desperately wanting to close every virtual and physical portal that could try to dampen out their hope and hide their God-given purpose for life, I knew it was time to get uncomfortable, bolder, and wisely strategic as their advocate, and become available in a deeper way that would impact not only my children, but many, including their peers and adolescents all over the nation and the world. God gets the glory and that enemy is a liar because all things are working together (Romans 8:28) and I have surrendered my life and purpose to God's will. Although as a single mother, I felt helpless in that moment, and at times it's tough in the fight, but I stand here today to testify that I am encouraged because God answers prayer! I know that through prayerful intervention, Christ-centered mentorship, and leadership programming, in this case through the tools of basketball and the arts, life was and continues to be saved.

Recognizing that thousands of Cleveland families, and families all over the nation (and world) face similar challenges with limited access to transformative opportunities, I revamped the mission of Exciting Ministries to break down financial and social barriers for at-risk youth, and while sitting in my car asking God for help, the Winning The Game campaign was birthed.

In Cleveland's most challenged neighborhoods, including Glenville where we concentrate much of our work, 38% of children live below the poverty line, and 64% of deaths ages 10-14 years of age is by suicide. Impacting our generation all over this nation, 1 in 5 youth ages 15-24 are contemplating suicide as you read this message. These statistics represent not just numbers, but children, young people, with unlimited potential who need our collective support, and immediate intervention.

Like David slew Goliath, we stand as a light in dark places to overcome this crisis and walk in victory alongside each precious life within our reach. Because EVERY CHILD deserves to know they have a future worth fighting for! (Ephesians 2:10)

Our event on July 26th was an initial release bringing communities together to gain victory for this vital anti-bullying and suicide prevention cause. And we are coming together, ready to serve in the love, grace, and power of Jesus Christ!

As we prepare to begin our initial after-school leadership program, Young Achievers in Christ, we need your help with raising funds so that our program can remain consistent and grow to serve more at risk youth. We are aiming to reduce depression and increase hope in every life we touch and we are committed to enriching the lives of our youth.
