Winnie's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
On the 28th of November I took my beloved dog Winnie for a checkup at her vet. I was concerned as she wasn’t eating and appeared to be really weak for the past couple days. She didn’t even have the strength to jump onto my bed or walk up stairs. She had low energy and wasn't her usual outgoing self.

At her checkup she had bloodwork performed, I was told that Winnie had a blood platelet count of 0 and a scarily low red blood cell count. She was immediately suspected to have Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA) and Evans Syndrome.
Here is a link explaining these conditions in detail:

The conditions are not diagnosed yet but they are life threatening and carry a high mortality rate, but with the proper care and treatment Winnie may be able to make a full recovery.

I was immediately referred to take her for treatment at SASH to get my Winnie back in a stable condition. She is getting blood transfusions to increase her cell count, chemotherapy medication to help her bone marrow produce platelets, and steroids to help with inflammatory responses. She’s also getting biochem tests to fully confirm the suspected diagnosis of IMHA and Evans Syndrome, she is currently staying at SASH until her levels are better.

All of this treatment is estimated at a cost of $10,000. Potentially being more depending on how she responds to the varying treatments.
I have paid a 50% deposit so she can get started on her recovery, but there is still a long way to go for my Winnie.
As a 22 year old who works two jobs trying to save money, this was absolutely devastating news. I will do anything for my girl, so giving her the chance she deserves is all that matters to me.

It is so upsetting to me that I am unable to accommodate these costs on my own, any donations received will only be used for Winnie's treatments. If you are unable to donate simply sharing this page is something I will be forever grateful for.
I will continue to give Winnie a fighting chance at making a full recovery and getting her all the help she needs.

Thankyou to everyone who has taken the time to read this, your support means the world to me. As this is an ongoing battle please keep her in your thoughts and hearts as we navigate through this difficult journey, I will give updates regarding her wellbeing as often as I am able to.
With love always,
Abbey and Winnie
