Winnie is a very special dog who has touched the hearts of thousands of people. Winnie was born without his front legs and yet lives every day of his life to the fullest. Winnie has been regurgitating his water which could lead to asphyxiation and so we have been to many vets appointments to try and figure out why. Last week Winnie went to the Ontario Vet College for a scope, ultrasound and echocardiogram (to check his heart). they discovered that Winnie has a pocket in his esophagus where the water is pooling and that’s why it comes back out when he starts moving around. We are trying him on a medication now that will construct the lower esophageal muscles and hopefully help. The cost for the tests was $3668 and we are hoping to raise the funds to cover those tests. Winnie lives at Charlotte’s Freedom Farm, a non-profit animal sanctuary with over 200 animals, many with special needs. The vet bills are constantly piling up and the sanctuary is always looking for ways to fundraise and cover these costs. If you are able to donate, we are very grateful. Winnie is an inspiration to so many people and through his social media and visits to local schools, retirement homes and other organizations he hopes to continue spreading joy and changing minds about animals with disabilities for many more years.
