As many of you are aware, Winnie has been struggling with severe anxiety and depression. This is due, in part, to an adverse reaction to medication she was prescribed following surgery in 2014. It is a situation she has faced before and recovered from. In this case we have not been as fortunate.
She has been seen by dozens of doctors and we have tried numerous treatment options. The tests have shown a variety of markers that have pointed to conclusions ranging from blood cancer to a brain tumor. Doctors have been unable to pinpoint a cause. Winnie has spent much of the last year in hospitals, nursing homes and care facilities.
We exhausted our resources in Minneapolis and after a weeks worth of tests in Rochester, she was admitted to the Mayo Clinic. She is being treated by the best, with hopes of bringing her back from the sad world she is consumed by.
Our hope is to keep her at the Mayo until she recovers fully. Insurance has been covering many of the expenses so far, but she will reach her maximum coverage for hospitalization soon.
With dad's recent accident and current hospitalization its hard to predict what the financial implications might be for them.
Winnie has touched a lot of lives. She was a selfless friend, a backup nanny, a gift giver, a bread maker, a spirit lifter and always there. We want that Winnie back.
If your situation allows you to help out financially, that is great. If not, your thoughts and prayers are equally appreciated.
