Winnie Cakes was rescued 6 months ago after her previous owners wanted to euthanize her for a uti, being obese, and having maggots in her vulva. Clearly she was being neglected and she deserved a second chance. That’s when I stepped in, got her all cleaned up, on antibiotics and took her home. She did well with her new brother and sister for about 6 months.
This past week she stopped eating. I rushed her into the ER I work at and she was completely Icteric (yellow).
after many diagnostics, ultrasound, hospitalization... she was diagnosed with hepatic lipidosis secondary to likely pancreatitis. This means her liver was shutting down and her body was eating her fat reserves.
She currently has a feeding tube placed and is overall improved. But the only way to get her liver to start working is to get her to eat and get nutrients into her body.

it is a waiting battle to see if the nutrients provided by the feeding tube will kick her body back into gear.

Although I work in a pet hospital, and get benefits doing so, her medical bills are adding up as she continues to get care.

I post daily updates on tik tok and Instagram as well as any donations I will post the receipts directly from that donation paid to the hospital.
