On May 24, 2019, our good friend Matty was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. ALS is a motor neuron disease that affects voluntary muscle movement, is progressive and will present many challenges for Matty and his family. There is no way to predict how quickly the disease will progress but unfortunately it is already affecting Matty in both legs.
Matty is a very special man to so many of us with the biggest heart and beautiful soul! Even though ALS will affect him physically, he will still be the same person on the inside. Since research has proven that the eyes are the last muscles affected, Matty has decided that the wink will be his special way of showing/telling his loved ones that he loves them. ;)
