Wingwalking for HeadwayBC

Donation protected
Hi my name is Zoe and I would like to make a difference. My aim is to raise as much money as possible for HeadwayBC, a non-profit registered charity no 1089171, who provides a range of services for adults with acquired brain injuries and their families.

This charity is meaningful to me because on the 23/01/17 my bestfriend Josh was in a serious car accident resulting in several bleeds on the brain along side many other life changing injuries.

I asked josh to write a small paragraph to explain in more detail how they have helped him and his family.

Hi my name is josh, I am 24 years old now and I sustained a severe brain injury on the 23/01/17, I acquired my brain injury due to a RTA in which the car I was in went underneath an arctic lorry.
My mom picked up a headway leaflet and called the number and after that headway met my parents at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where I was in the major trauma unit, they helped my parents with the upcoming days as there wasn’t any idea at the time of how I was going to be.
Head way has supported me and my family in ways that we didn’t even know was possible! They always go the extra mile for everybody. As a young lad at the age of 19 with a brain injury it was a very hard contrast from my ‘normal’ life to living with a brain injury but headway was there every step of the way! Donations can help so many people and family’s who are under headway at the moment and people to come in the future.
You always think ‘it will never happen to me’ but it can happen to anyone of you or your families at any time and I just can’t thank Headway enough for everything they did for me. They are an amazing company and wonderful team of people.

i also asked Josh's family to write a paragraph to give you an insight into how they helped his family.

Hi my name is Jo, when my son had sustained an acquired brain injury 5 years ago my whole world changed, we became members of a club no one wants to be part of. Whilst he was in hospital I picked up a Headway Black Country leaflet and called the number. After that call HeadwayBC became an integral part of our lives. They have supported us in so many ways but for me the biggest thing they have given me is friendship and support through their carers group. I have made a wonderful friendship with another mom who gets exactly what I'm going through.

On the 28th may 2022 I am going to go wing walking in Gloucester. I am lucky enough to have had this experience paid for by my family for my 21st birthday so any donations will go directly to HeadwayBC, a gift of any amount would mean the world to me.

Lastly through hearing about how wonderfully supportive HeadwayBC had been with Josh and his family, my mom began volunteering there and is now a support worker. She tells me it’s such a rewarding job, in a caring, friendly environment. She is very happy to be a part of the team.
