In June 2025, conservation scientist Dr. Timm Döbert and endurance athlete Leanna Carriere will embark on a 30,000km cycling and packrafting expedition across the Americas. Following the westernmost migratory bird flyway, their goal with the Wings of Survival expedition is to inspire, enable, and empower people – youths in particular – to conserve, restore, and rewild 30% of nature by 2030, in accordance with the United Nations 30x30 call for action.

Their intent is to portray the inseparable connections between migratory birds and our own well-being, using creative storytelling and transformative education. To that end, they are pioneering a storyline that uniquely bridges human adventure, extreme sports, natural history, and scientific exploration.

The expedition will be featured in a professional documentary to be developed by Moving Artistry Productions and TopTop Studio; the expedition teaser and mini-doc provide a glimpse into this epic adventure (Watch here).
