Why an Artificial Pitch?

Our club is run by volunteers who give up their time week in, week out. Preparing a grass wicket takes hours of mowing, rolling, marking and constant maintenance — and even then, the Great British weather can undo all that hard work overnight!

An artificial strip changes everything:

✅ Consistent playing surface all season

✅ Less weather disruption

✅ More time playing, less time rolling!

It means we can focus on cricket, coaching and community — not endless ground work.

Bigger Than Just Cricket

This isn’t just about our club. It’s about the whole village.

An artificial pitch will allow us to:

Host more matches — including midweek fixtures and junior games

Rent the ground to other clubs and groups

Run festivals, tournaments and coaching sessions

That increased use means increased revenue for the Playing Field Association, helping to support and maintain this vital community space.

And it doesn’t stop there…

More matches and events mean more visitors to the village — which means more customers for the local pub and village shop

It’s a boost for the whole Winfrith Newburgh community.
