My husband and I have always promised to stand by each other, for better or worse, through sickness and in health. Now, as we face his metastatic cancer—first in his bones, and now, just before Christmas, in his brain—we find ourselves feeling helpless, clinging to each other and to moments of humor and love. Even in the darkest times, he manages to make me smile, joking that we should start a GoFundMe to keep me in wine as we brace for the challenges ahead.
This fundraiser is truly a lark for wine and a bit of laughter. We don’t plan to use anything raised for his medical care—just for small comforts and moments of joy as we navigate this difficult road. Cancer touches every part of our lives, but we’re determined to find lightness where we can, and maybe even share a toast to those who support us.
We’re not expecting anything, but if this brings a smile or a bit of hope, that’s enough. Any support—whether it’s a donation or just a kind word—means the world to us as we face the unknown together.
