I remember being at my sister's wedding wandering through the event greeting old cousins until I stumbled upon My father, and all my aunts and uncles crowded around each other speaking in hushed tones. A bleak shadow was cast on the room. I was confused how on such a happy day everyone could come together to privately grieve. Later that week I was finally told the reality of what I saw. My Grandma has cancer. My grandmother was the backbone of the family and devoted her time to ensure that everyone, especially my aging grandfather, was taken care of and felt special. I felt that no matter the circumstances she’ll walk out of the hospital with a warm grin and a demand for us to pick up some Boston market on the drive home. But after I was told she was denying chemo I understood it was only a matter of time. Living a 12 hour drive away in Atlanta my mother would urge me to call my relatives in Michigan so I could check in on her. But I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I knew we didn’t have much time, but I didn’t want to face the reality. The last time I saw her she could barely speak or recognize me. She died the next morning.
Window is a horror thriller about Jordan, a young man who conducts a wellness check on his lonely Nana. Upon entering the house he becomes trapped in a time loop where he experiences all stages of grief while unlocking the mystery behind his Nanas passing and the time-bending loop he finds himself in. In this story I hope to explore the futility in our regrets, the unforgiving nature of time and how improperly grieving can impact those around us. I intend for this film to be a mind-warping horror that leaves the audience constantly rewatching trying to piece together the reality contorting puzzle. But I also want the audience to feel the emotional weight that our protagonist deals with and to find a piece of themselves in the story. I want much of the film to feel surreal, almost like a dream that you can’t escape.
For this film we are seeking 5,000 dollars, the majority of this budget will go towards renting out a location for us to film. We are hoping to secure a secluded country home in Georgia that can accurately depict the script. The remaining of the budget will go towards specialized equipment, Actors, Crew and making a comfortable set for everyone involved. Our talented producer Isis Wells has crunched the budget and this is the goal amount that we will need in order to secure all of this. I will be contributing from my savings that I was able to put together from all your support and the sponsorships I have done over the past couple of months. But we still need your help to get us to our ultimate goal.
And for your assistance, we have put together a list of perks for our generous supporters!
