Dear friends,
On April 25th Saturday, a earthquake of 7.5 richter hit Nepal causing 6000 plus in casualties, 9000 plus injured and numerous other homeless. One of the hardest hit region was Sindhupalchowk area, Gorkha , Dhading and Kathmandu. We come from a village in Sindhupalchowk district where there are 1587 casualties reported so far and numerous injured.
On Sunday, April 26th, we along with a group of concerned family and friends from the Helambu region was able to raise money to send and immediate rescue team to bring the injured to the city hospitals and distribute emergency resource. So far the teams has been able to rescue most of the injured from the region and distribute a week supply of food and tarps. We were also able to provide 23 village with solar panels, so they could have phone access to call Kathmandu for emergency and supplies. Funds were also used to cover funeral expenses for those who lost their loved ones.
Me and my husband has decided to continue fundraising to fund people for relocation as monsoon is around the corner. Our village is at risk of landslide, therefore we are working on providing shelter and food to anyone that is willing to leave the village until monsoon is over. The people we will be funding are ones that have no famillies in the city and has kids or elderlys.
We need funds to mobilize the local teams so that the young and able can helps many others who have survived this tragic incident. Please help us in this humanitarian effort.
Thank you,
Pema, Meera & Family
