Winder Colli Chayax needs our help!

"My name is Erwin Colli Chayax and I am from Guatemala. I’m the fourth child of nine and live in San Juan La Laguna, Sololá. I arrived here from Petén 13 years ago and now work with community organizations but I’m doing this fundraiser to support my brother Winder.

Winder Colli Chayax still lives in the northern part of the country in a town called San Jose Peten. It's about 12hrs drive from the capital, Guatemala City. He is my younger brother, the seventh child and is only 32 years old. He has wife and two sons but in September, we learned that he has three tumors growing in his throat and esophagus. Winder now struggles to breathe and finds it difficult to speak and swallow his food. 

The recommended treatment includes surgery and chemotherapies but the cost, which is more than 80,000Q or about $15,000 or is more than our family can afford. 

He is tentatively scheduled to begin treatment on November 3rd so we are making last minute appeal to our friends for help.

Any money that we raise here will go to pay for my brother's surgery and chemotherapy along with travel to and from Guatemala City.

Winder's situation is urgent. If the surgery is not done, the tumors will continue to grow and could close his throat and cause asphyxia.

"Mi nombre es Erwin Colli Chayax y soy de Guatemala. Soy el cuarto hijo de nueve y vivo en San Juan La Laguna, Sololá. Llegué aquí desde Petén hace 13 años y ahora trabajo con organizaciones comunitarias pero soy haciendo esta recaudación de fondos para apoyar a mi hermano Winder.

Winder Colli Chayax todavía vive en la parte norte del país en un pueblo llamado San José Petén. Son aproximadamente 12 horas en auto desde la capital, Ciudad de Guatemala. Es mi hermano menor, el séptimo hijo y solo tiene 32 años. Tiene esposa y dos hijos, pero en septiembre supimos que tiene tres tumores creciendo en la garganta y el esófago. Winder ahora lucha por respirar y le cuesta hablar y tragar su comida.

El tratamiento recomendado incluye cirugía y quimioterapias, pero el costo es más de lo que nuestra familia puede pagar.

Está programado tentativamente para comenzar el tratamiento el 3 de noviembre, por lo que estamos haciendo un llamado de última hora a nuestros amigos para que nos ayuden.

Todo el dinero que recaudemos aquí se utilizará para pagar la cirugía y la quimioterapia de mi hermano, además del viaje desde y hacia la ciudad de Guatemala.

La situación de Winder es urgente. Si no se realiza la cirugía, los tumores seguirán creciendo y podrían cerrarle la garganta y provocar asfixia.
