Hi, my name is Danielle and I’m raising funds to pay for Winchester’s dental surgery.

He had surgery last year to have several teeth removed that were quite literally hanging but not coming out as well as a few others that were loose or had cavities. I barely got him that surgery if it hadn’t been for someone who so graciously donated the fee. He had 5 teeth removed. They left this canine cuz it wasn’t damaged or decayed although his bite naturally had his lower canine hit his upper gums constantly which we were told could become an issue. But they still couldn’t remove a perfectly healthy tooth.

So we watched it carefully. It became infected once along with his ear & we took care of that immediately with that month’s grocery money. But now, the gums have receded so far back, his tooth is super sensitive & causing him some considerable discomfort and pain at times. He flinches on bad days and on good days, he can eat his food if it’s small enough. The vet says it’s time to consider taking it out. The other option is leave him in pain and have him like that for the rest of his days.

He’s only 10. I know we have many years left with this buddy of mine that saved my life. I don’t want him in any more pain. The change in his personality after he had his surgery last year? It was like night and day. It was so great to see him bouncing around and playful like when he was a puppy. He has spurts once in a while in his good days but because he already has arthritis in his shoulders, this is just one more thing this joyful sweet boy of mine doesn’t need.

Now, why am I asking for donations you might ask?

I am on disability. It doesn’t provide anything beyond rent and even then there’s barely enough for groceries let alone bills. And the ppl saying I shouldn’t have a dog if I can’t pay for him? Maybe you’re right. My Dad got him for my daughter 10yrs ago. The deal was, he pay for the vet bills & food since I couldn’t afford that. He wanted us to have a dog, something my daughter had been asking for since she was 6. She’s had a lot of pretty crappy things happen in her life and getting Winchester was definitely a huge help to her. And soon after, I went through some pretty dark times. If it wasn’t for this guy, I wouldn’t be here. It’s our last piece of my Dad in a way, as he passed away 2 yrs ago. He was my daughter’s best friend. Winchester is mine.

So I have been squeezing out of my groceries and prescriptions and medication money, whatever he needs & regular vet visits.

But between this bill, the taxi fare there and back, the meds he’ll need afterwards etc…

And that’s IF the blood tests even clear him for surgery cuz of his age. Plus! It’s an upper tooth by his nasal cavity which is sometimes complicated.

But it’s risk the surgery or the 100% chance of him being in constant pain.

Have you ever had a raw nerve or an exposed nerve or sensitive tooth? I have. Imagine that pain when you least expect it and the throbbing that you get. Dental pain is my nightmare. It’s awful.

So I’m asking for help. Which I hate doing. I was taught to tough it out or figure it out on my own. So if it was for me, I wouldn’t ask. But it’s for my baby. So I’m asking.
