Hi all,
my name is Dean O’ Connor and I’m a post primary teacher in Coláiste Abbáin, Adamstown, Co. Wexford. I have developed a short course in Agriculture for the students of my school and this has been recognised by the Department of Education and we are the first school in Ireland to offer this subject for junior cycle students. The subject is then sat in 3rd years as a state exam.
Recently, we have purchased 30 broilers chicks which will link in with rearing our own food and then eating it. We also have 20 hens and 4 ducks on site which we hatched and reared ourselves. We also have a fully functional poly tunnel on site.
We are having a fundraiser to develop our facilities for agriculture in the school and I am writing to you here to see if farmers would have an interest in buying a ticket for €5 and first prize Is a heifer calf. The monies raised will be used to erect a stable chicken run with a concrete base and also recover our poly tunnel which was damaged during the recent storm.
