This holiday season, join us in raising money for two incredible organizations providing shelter, services, and trauma-informed care for survivors of domestic violence and the intersection of homelessness in Philadelphia and Los Angeles.
About The Organizations:
The East Los Angeles began as a sexual assault hotline and was the first bilingual hotline in the nation for Spanish–speaking survivors of sexual assault. ELAWC delivers comprehensive and culturally responsive services and trauma-informed care to survivors and their families affected by sexual, domestic, and intimate partner violence, HIV/AIDS and the intersection of homelessness. Services include crisis intervention, counseling, danger assessment, safety planning, emergency shelter placement, case management services and community linkages to rapid re-housing, transitional housing, job training, workforce, education and job placement.
Women In Transition empowers people to move forward in their lives free of domestic violence and substance abuse. WIT offers free and confidential telephone and crisis counseling, peer support groups, individual empowerment counseling, client advocacy and referrals, community education trainings, and WAVE empowerment self-defense classes. WIT also operates a 24-hour domestic violence hotline. The WIT Adopt-A-Family program matches donors with WIT families in need during the holiday season. The families involved in the Adopt-A-Family program have a diminished capacity to provide basics for their children and are currently utilizing WIT's services.
