Wilson Ortega-Construction Accident

Donation protected
On May 4, my nephew Wilson Ortega was seriously injured in a tragic construction accident. Wilson moved to the United States from the Dominican Republic three years ago with his wife. He is a loving family man who spent most of his time at work and the gym. He dreamed of someday building a house for his mother in Santo Domingo.
Wilson was trapped under the debris of a mezzanine collapse for hours while firefighters and medical staff fought to extract him. When he said he couldn’t take the pain anymore a firefighter talked him through it, calming him down as they worked to rescue him. He whispered in his ear and told him to stay calm and that everything will be OK. It was like an angel that came from heaven.
Wilson was rushed to the hospital but sadly his legs were damaged beyond repair and needed to be amputated in order to save his life. He will be transferred to a rehabilitation facility where he will be fitted with prosthetics and will have to learn how to walk again.
Wilson’s employer NorthStar Contracting Group is tirelessly working to assist his recovery and to reunite him with his young son currently living in the Dominican Republic. He and his family will need all of our continued support as he recovers from his life changing injuries.
We are organizing this GoFundMe fundraiser to help alleviate any financial burdens on his family as he recovers from his injuries. Please consider helping Wilson as he fights to piece his life back together.
