I have friends that are finding it be very tough right now, I also have friends that are better off and are not impacted by the COVID19.
This is a trust exercise amongst my friendship group.
The requests for support and the distribution of funds will be managed by myself. I will make the process transparent where possible. The exemption here is that some people may want to remain anonymous (givers and receivers).
I will not receive anything as part if this project. I am contributing 10% of my salary over next 6 months. This is where the trust factor comes in. Those that know me, my family and my friends may understand what I am trying to do here.
What do I need people to do?
- Those that can support - donate
- Those that need support - reach out
- Those that know either of the above - get in touch
I understand that it is hard to ask for help sometimes so please get in touch if you know of people that need help. I'll figure out a way to anonymously get the money / gift card to them ($25, $50 or $100 etc).
If someone is to recieve a gift but feel as though they don't need it as much as someone else, all good, pay it forward. Give it to someone that does need it.
These gifts wont be huge amounts, just little acts of kindness to help show that people are thinking about them. The amount may be small, but the impact felt through the gesture is what counts.
These gifts to people will help them to do things like:
- put fuel in the car for 1 more week
- do a quick shop for necessities
- pay a phone bill
- other things that we may all take for granted each day
I have commented about my airline friends in previous posts, this is not just for them, it's my entire friendship group.
I understand that there are other issues impacting the human race on a global scale, things that may be deemed much worse than what is happening right here right now. I do support other charities and volunteer on other things but this is what is closest to my heart right now, the wellbeing of my immediate friends and family.
Will this work? I hope so.
