Wills Thames Marathon
Two people working in Construction in the UK commit suicide every working day, that's over 700 per year.
In our Industry over two thirds of Construction workers believe there is a stigma surrounding mental health which stops them from talking about it. I think it's time for change! I want to do my bit in raising awareness for mental health and making it acceptable to discuss with friends and colleagues how we are really feeling. Please join me with raising money for 'Mates In Mind' as I will be taking part in the Henley Thames Marathon which is a 13km river swim to raise as much money as possible for men's mental health. The reason for choosing this Charity is to raise more awareness about looking after our mental health and encourage each other that it's OK to open up and share any concerns or worries affecting us.
For myself I had the devastating news whilst at Glastonbury less than 2 weeks ago that one of my very best friends who I went to college with had taken his own life at the age of 23, so I have now experienced first-hand the upset and distress in losing someone very close to you.
I'm aiming to complete the swim within 5 hours and would be most grateful for any support or sponsorship that you could offer to help me achieve this challenge and raise as much money as possible for this worthy charity.
All donations are very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
