Will’s skydive for MacMillan Cancer Support!
Hi, my name is Will and on Sunday 28th September I’ll be raising funds for MacMillan Cancer Support by facing my biggest fear and doing a skydive!
MacMillan are a charity close to my heart due to the impacts cancer has had on my family. Firstly, we have my Grandma, Sue, who battled cancer three times in her life, and unfortunately on the third time, cancer won. There’s also my Grandpa, Ted, who’s battled cancer once before, and is currently battling it again, with his strength and resilience being nothing short of incredible. Then finally, we have my Mum, who has recently beaten cancer herself, but has suffered life-changing impacts from it.
As a result, I’ve seen first hand how cruel this disease is and how it can tear apart families. Not only does it destroy its victims physically, but also mentally, and not just its victims, but the people around them too. The strength and courage my grandparents and mum have shown has been so inspirational and powerful, showing that no matter how difficult times can be, to always push through. Cancer doesn’t discriminate, it doesn’t care about your age, gender, wealth, or health, you can still be affected.
Health is wealth, and you know your body better than anyone else, so if something doesn’t feel right, trust yourself, and go get it checked out. You can have 100 problems in your life, and as soon as you have a health problem, there’s only 1 problem.
On a more personal note, after a tough couple months mentally, I can safely say I’ve come out the other side feeling happier and more confident than ever, with a mindset of living life to the fullest and being able to look back with no regrets, so what better way to feel alive and to live life than to jump out of a plane from 10,000ft!
Times are tough for people financially right now, but if you can, then any donations would be hugely appreciated, with all donations going directly to MacMillan themselves. The support they provide when it’s needed most can be life changing, making millions of people’s lives easier every single day.
