Hey everyone.. my name is Leanne and in the early hours of Sunday June 8th, I got the phone call that no one wants to receive... the man I love was involved in a motorcycle accident and is being rushed to the hospital. Just outside of Oshawa, on the WB 401, there was another motorcycle accident involving a deer. As the group of bikes were passing the other biker, everyone slowed down to try and pass safely. Will's rear brakes locked on his back, resulting in him skidding into the shoulder of the highwas and clipping the wall of the overpass they were going over.. he ended up dumping his bike and ended up in the middle of the live lane on the highway. His bike, which was still in gear, ended up about 100feet ahead in the ditch. Police had to close down the whole 401 for investigation. Speeding, drugs, alcohol were NOT a factor. Unfortunately, the bike only had liability coverage. Will ended up breaking both of his legs at his knees and along with the break, his right leg was completely dislocated at the knee. Will has already had 1 surgery to put his knee back in as well as repairing the fractures in his knees. He also has what's called an X-Fix on his right leg to hold his leg together to allow healing. Will is expected to receive a second surgery hopefully some time next week to repair the torn ligaments in his right leg - they're estimating up to 4 need to be repaired. His recovery from the 2nd surgery will determine his whole recovery. Will is located at a trauma centre in North York, and with him being there not even a week, expenses for hotel that first night, gas, parking, food, etc. have already risen to well over a thousand dollars. This doesn't even factor the loss of income received by myself who missed work all week, his mom who also missed work all week, the estimated 6 month time off recommendation for Will from the Dr's, and the impound fees for the bike that is still at an impound lot in Whitby, which raises significantly each day it's there, and repair/replacement fees for the bike. Will is expected to be in the hospital for at least 2 more weeks and then family will have to pay for adjustments to be made within their home to allow Will to recover comfortably; re: hospital bed rental, temporary handicap permit, double leg brace costs, physiotherapy costs, walker rental, crutches cost, pain medication costs, etc.
We have not seen the bike yet so we don't know the extent of the damage as of right now.
I am trying to raise money for him so he doesn't have to worry about loss of income, because every one still has bills to pay although this horrible accident has happened. We also really need to get his bike out of impound before the fees cost more than the bike is worth. I am asking anyone who is able to please donate, even a little bit, towards this very important cause. It has been a very long week, and we still have a very long road ahead of us. He will never get full function of his legs back; dr's are estimating he will get about 90% of his function back, if he's lucky. This is a life altering accident we all experienced. We agree, it could have been MUCH worse, and are VERY happy that this is the worst it is, but regardless of the damage, it is expensive driving back and forth from Hamilton/Burlington/St. Catharine's all the way to North York every day, along with parking fees and food while we are out there.

Will is the type of person who would give the shirt off his own back. He is always there to help everyone. He rarely complains. He is a hard worker, and cares so deeply about everyone around him. He is an amazing friend, coworker, step parent, partner, son, everything. He never asks for help because of his pride but we need help.

Thank you so much for reading. I know it's lengthy, but anything is appreciated. Thank you so so much, to everyone, in advance.
