To all who read this, my name is Will Germaine.
On paper, I am a leader and a high-achiever. I have earned a Master of Health Administration at 23, served as Student Government Association President, and dedicated myself to building inclusive communities wherever I go. I have always been the one to solve problems, lead teams, and support others. But today, I am writing to you from the most vulnerable point in my life, asking for the help I have so often given to others.
For the past several years, I have been navigating a dual crisis that has shattered my mental health. I endured a professional environment of "persistent fear" where I was frequently belittled and felt betrayed and discarded by the very institution I loved and considered my home.
This devastating professional experience collided with an unimaginable family crisis. While trying to manage the trauma of my mother’s psychotic break, I was turned away by my family, left homeless, and forced to survive a medical emergency on my own after being kicked off my insurance. The weight of being the family therapist, combined with this profound sense of abandonment, has been crushing.
The cumulative effect of this trauma has been severe. I have been diagnosed with anxiety, experienced a relapse of my PTSD, and needed medication for depression for the first time in my life. My heart is broken, and I recognize that I cannot heal from wounds this deep on my own.
I am now seeking to raise funds for intensive treatment at a residential mental health facility that specializes in Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) stemming from prolonged relational trauma, psychological abuse, and family crisis. This is more than I can manage with weekly therapy; I need a safe, immersive environment where I can focus entirely on healing.
This is my chance to reclaim the future I have worked so hard for. My life's mission is to advance accessible healthcare and create impactful, inclusive environments. To do that, I must first heal myself. Any support you can offer will be a lifeline, helping me access the specialized care I desperately need to rebuild my life.
Thank you for taking the time to hear my story.
