Will's Eagle Project: Palmer Ridge Outdoor Learning Lab
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Will Guttormsen and I am a life scout in Troop 17 of Monument Colorado. I currently attend Palmer Ridge High School and found a way to merge these two paths in a way that will serve our community. I have always enjoyed the pursuits of scouting and I enjoy being an active member of my troop. Likewise, I do my best in school for not only my education, but in an attempt to leave Palmer Ridge better than I found it. As a life scout, one of the requirements to achieve scouting's highest award is to plan and execute a service project in your community. When I learned of a teacher in my school who was creating an outdoor learning lab, I jumped at the opportunity to help my troop and school at the same time. This project will include the construction of a gravel path that services a garden where experiments can be conducted safely and effectively. This garden will heighten students' learning to a level unbeknownst to a classroom. I have planned exactly what will be done in the project and, now that the council has approved my plan, I am beginning the fundraising phase. Money raised here will be used to buy gravel, landscape edging, and geotextile fabric to build this path. Any extra money raised will go towards other aspects of the lab that need construction or refurbishment.
