Willow's Recovery Journey

Donation protected
Hello - This is Willow. She was found living in the stump of a willow tree by our pond. She is in really bad shape - emaciated and untrusting; she had clearly been there living there a long time. We created a temporary shelter for her by the pond and fed and visited her 3-4 times a day. After about 10 days, we finally gained some trust and safely loaded her up and got her veterinary attention - but not until after she managed to fall into the icy pond. I had to go in and get her out because she was too weak - this sweet girl cannot catch a break!

She went to the vet today ($650), and they were not very optimistic - but thought she was such a sweet girl and a fighter - showing improvement after getting some fluids in her.

I believe Willow found us for a reason. As long as I can keep her comfortable and she continues to improve, she deserves a chance!

She is emaciated, anemic, dehydrated, has an infection, multiple pressure lesions, and a torn ACL (that will need to be addressed later). We will continue to get good vet care and advice, provide quality nutrition and medications, and a safe and loving space - please help support Willow on her journey to recovery. The vet cautioned us that she has a long road, but I believe she is like a mighty willow tree - she may bend but won't break.

Note: She had no tags, is not chipped, and I scoured multiple avenues to find an owner or a report of a missing dog - she simply found us for a reason.
