Willow was born with severe scoliosis and kyphosis. Scoliosis is a side-to-side curvature of the spine, and kyphosis is a front-to-back curvature of the spine. Her specialist has always warned us that as she grew and got older, her spine would start to deteriorate and worsen, becoming life-threatening. The time has come for the specialists to step in and take action to prevent the spine from deteriorating further.
On January 27th at Shriners, Willow had surgery to start Halo traction. Willow and Brandy (her mom) will be at Shriners for the 7 weeks leading up to the spinal fusion on March 18. The Halo traction is working, and Willow is 4 weeks away from having the rods and spinal fusion at Duke on March 18th. Brandy continues to be by Willow's side and out of work.
We ask, first and foremost, that you pray for Willow and Brandy and for everyone caring for Willow. We also ask you to pray for their family in North Carolina that is taking care of loved ones at home and unable to be at Shriners. Any donation you feel led to give would be such a blessing to them.
