Willow’s Fight Against FIP: A Tiny Warrior’s Story

Hi everyone and thank you for giving her a chance, I am Willow’s mom. I rescued her from a wooded area where there is an active cat colony and I am one of the feeders. Willow showed up one day looking for food and started feeding timidly and always waited for the other cats to eat first. She seemed so tiny and small to be all alone. I thought I would try to trap her and give her a chance to have a home. She was tiny, but fierce. We weren’t sure she would acclimate to a house with humans. I worked with her and got her to flourish in her new life. She quickly bonded to my other cat Rheanyra and they became inseparable besties.
On Saturday night, Willow suffered seizures that sent us racing to the ER. The diagnosis shattered me: neurological FIP, a devastating and once-always-fatal coronavirus variant attacking her brain and body. Symptoms were progressing rapidly, and the road ahead looked impossibly tough. We connected with a specialized clinic and rescue dedicated to FIP warriors. She’s now in their expert care, in critical condition, with the vet team pouring everything into saving her life.

This baby girl appeared out of nowhere, a survivor who’d braved the woods alone. I gave her a chance because I saw her unbreakable spirit, and now I refuse to give up. The ER vet offered euthanasia to end her suffering painlessly, but I have hope she can overcome this. If she conquered the wild on her own, she can beat this too. We’re creating her happy ending, one day at a time.
Vet bills have been overwhelming, covering diagnostics, specialized meds, hospitalization, and ongoing care. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to getting Willow home. Your support means the world to us—thank you for helping this little fighter write her victory chapter. Updates will be posted here. ❤️
update 10/14 : Willow made it through the night. She is still having seizures, but was able to open her eyes. She is still hospitalized and receiving 24hr care from this great team .
update 10/15: I’m heartbroken to share that Willow passed away in her sleep this morning. Thank you to everyone for the support. I hope this also helps raise awareness of this terrible disease and other cat parents can be able to catch it in time .
