Willow, Doberman less than 2 yrs, saved from euthanasia

ALL FUNDS RAISED!!

Willow was saved from euthanasia last weekend by a kind and compassionate shelter manager. Willow was dropped at the shelter by her "human," who insisted she be euthanized, not adopted out. Luckily, the fine print on the euthanasia contract says the shelter may opt out and place the dog up for adoption.

Willow wasn't doing well in the shelter, no surprise, and I received a call asking if I could help bust her out. Willow wasn't handling the kenneling well and peeled all the skin off her nose on night one. Of course, I jumped in the car and went to get her.

Willow had received her distemper vaccine, Bordetella, and been dewormed at the shelter. Willow had an appointment for vet care today, Friday, March 28th. Unfortunately, this morning her separation anxiety got the best of her, and she injured herself. She ended up with 2 deep puncture wounds between her toes. The area looked like a crime scene, but my only thought was to find out where she hurt herself and stop the copious bleeding. Her foot was swelling up to the size of a baseball. Thank goodness we would see the vet shortly.

Because of the strange circumstances regarding Willow's surrender, I felt obligated to do a full workup: rabies, heartworm test, Chem-10, and coag panel, plus a microchip. The only thing suggested when she was dropped off at the shelter was possibly a bladder issue. I agreed that she seems to have some bladder issue.

Her blood work came back perfect! I was concerned with her being a cream Doberman, she might have some issues, but she doesn't!

So, now Willow is on an antibiotic, an anti-inflammatory, and a touch of sedation for her anxiety. She is sleeping peacefully, getting much-needed rest. She will receive a follow-up visit in 3 weeks. She also received her first dose of heartworm prevention.

Great Babies Rescue is small, and we stretch every donation as far as we can. All funds donated to this GoFundMe will go solely to pay Willow's vet bill.

I, Michelle Reichmann, am fostering Willow, and I will pay any fees associated with donations. This does not cover tips, which can be adjusted to zero!

PayPal, Venmo, and Zelle are also options to help start Willow on her journey to a better life. We appreciate your support in saving her life.
