Willow Creek Stables Newfoundland Pony Rescue
Donation protected
Willow Creek Stables Newfoundland Pony Rescue has rehabilitated and rehomed 90 ponies over the past eight years. Willow Creek has also supported the local community in collaboration with organizations such as 4-H and Girl Guides, and has offered therapeutic opportunities for seniors, veterans, and other individuals with special needs. You may already be familiar with this critically endangered breed, Willow Creek’s breeding program, or the rescue’s 22 sanctuary ponies, mostly seniors. You can learn more about Willow Creek at www.facebook.com/willowcreekstablesperth/ or www.willowcreekstables.ca. Donors, volunteers, sponsors, and visitors have always been vital to fund the operations of the rescue, but now more than ever, Willow Creek needs your support.
Over the next six months, owners Wayne and Korrine Jordan will be prioritizing Korrine's treatment for cancer, followed by her recovery from a regimen of weekly chemotherapy and daily radiation. This means that fundraising initiatives such as summer camps, pony treks, barn visits, and open farm days will be on hold. Meanwhile, for the ponies, life goes on, and that includes regular expenses.
This GoFundMe will support rescue expenses including:
• hay and grain, including extra rations to help the seniors maintain their body heat in the winter
• dental care, including dental floats to help senior ponies continue to eat efficiently
• hoof care, including additional farrier visits for Devlin, who regained the ability to walk after severe hoof neglect
• medications, including prednisone for seniors with asthma and arthritis
• routine veterinary costs, including worming and vaccines
• exceptional veterinary costs, including illness, injury, emergencies, and euthanasia
Based on this timeline, Wayne and Korrine will hope to see you back at the annual Valentine’s Day open farm day and on the trails with winter pony treks resuming in 2026.
