Who this is for

This gofundme is for my closest friend, Nick Willke and his family. Nick just found out that he has a tumor near his trachea. Later it was confirmed that it is a very rare form of cancer. They call it a Synovial Sarcoma of the thoracic inlet.

A little background on Nick if you don’t already know him. He and his wife have two young children. Nick carries two jobs, one of which is as an assistant pastor. He is one of the kindest, most real, and honest people I’ve ever met. Whether you believe in God or not, he is a shining example of what it means to be encouraging, joyful, and uplifting.

Why this is important

Money doesn’t solve life’s problems, but it’s definitely a major stressor when you’re making decisions based on whether or not you have enough of it. Let’s do our best to alleviate that stress for Nick and his family.

How this will help

For one, there is a good chance that Nick will have to be treated at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. It’s unclear what that means for his wife and children at the moment, but it would be best if they can join him in Houston to support whatever his treatment plan looks like. They don’t yet know if insurance will cover expenses for the family to travel with him.

Secondly, there are homeopathic treatments, traditional medicines, and other supplements that aren’t covered by insurance. Donations would give Nick options to choose from alternative treatments that have been shown to be beneficial to cancer patients.

Additionally, donations would help Nick and his family with a whole host of things that aren’t treatment-related that just make life easier during difficult times. These are things like hiring a babysitter, ordering in, or even unexpected car repairs which always seem to pop up at the worst possible time.
