Willie’s Journey to Recovery Willie Klinck is a natural-born storyteller. He’s animated; he talks with his hands—he has this contagious energy that makes people want to be near him. A California native, Willie loves to surf, it’s part of who he is, with a spirit as free as the waves he rides. But on November 29, 2018, Willie had a massive stroke. And now, his family and friends are hoping to get him the care he needs, so he can be the Willie we know and love again.
Having lost nearly all the mobility on the right side of his body, Willie is currently undergoing intense therapy to relearn even the most basic skills. From what the family has been told, these first weeks and months are paramount to his recovery. The time to heal is now, though it is likely he will need to continue intense therapy for 6-9 months. And while he is insured, he does not have the coverage needed for the care he will require.
At 59, Willie is an independent man. But after reaching out to a number of rehabilitation facilities, we have quickly realized the cost of his care will be exorbitant, and we are humbly asking for contributions towards his recovery.
Willie is the proud father of two young men, a brother, a son, a deeply valued friend, and now, he is a fighter. He is a willing participant in his recovery and is working hard every day, getting physically stronger and improving his speech. He wants to get better; he just needs the right care to get him there.
His family and friends are by his side, anxiously awaiting to hear another one of his stories.
Thank you for your support! We are grateful for any donation, your prayers, and for every share of Willie’s story.
Love,
Team Willie
