Hi there,
I recently wrote and recorded a protest song concerning this burgeoning bubble of crazy violence, mass shootings and the ridiculous number of people killed in this country every year -- intentionally and unintentionally -- by guns.
Some would prefer it be said: by 'PEOPLE and CHILDREN' -- who hurt, disable and kill others because.......
As the NRA says -- "Guns don't kill people, people kill people."
We know (except the NRA apparently) that people and children who kill, wouldn't kill nearly as many, and most of the time NOBODY if they didn't have such easy access to guns.
We want to help those who are fighting the NRA, fighting politicians paid by the NRA and fighting the issue of getting absurdly needed control concerning guns.
This protest song, "Too Soon", would be much more influential and inspiring if joined with an impactful video. And a professional videography team would give us the best outcome and the best hopes for a beneficial endeavor.
After researching and asking experts in this area, it seems a five minute video will cost $8,000 to $10,000. This amount does not include any costs outside of the making -- like promoting, possible venue rentals, personal expenses, or anything unforeseen.
Our goal is to:
1) Get it onto YouTube (and hope lots of people will view it)
2) Get it to any and all organizations that are fighting so hard to reign in the power and influence of the NRA so that they may use it to help promote their efforts, and that they too might promote the video.
3) Screen it in possible venues like libraries and eTown who -- upon inquiring -- has suggested a viewing that would include a town hall discussion.
4) Take your suggestions
We are hoping to raise $10,000 as quickly as possible.
With what has been happening -- especially the frequency of school shootings -- the urgency to solve this problem is growing at a frightening rate. There are many who believe in the future of compassion and the evolution of the humanitarian spirit who have been battling the gun lobby for a long time, many more who are now joining them and, I believe, many more who will come.
The unfortunate argument to arm more people (teachers, etc.) with guns, so they can kill other people with guns is an argument for escalating violence, putting teachers and others in harm's way and, perhaps most of all, for perpetuating more revenue regarding gun sales.
We need to put our guns down, avoid acting out of fear, and stop the senseless and avoidable loss of life; the loss of people's kids; the lives of children, parents, friends -- and all who are taken and gone Too Soon.
If you believe in the efforts to gain sanity and reason amidst the recent rise in killing and tragedy, and take a stand against the culture of greed over well being and life, we would be so, so grateful if you are able to help make this project possible.
This is our small effort -- amidst an ocean of loss, but also good and brave feats and undertakings -- to add to the the growing movement more determined than ever, to stand against the NRA.
We can't solve it with one song and a video, but enough of us working together can.
If you decide to donate, thank you for your kindness and generosity.
And if you prefer not to donate, or are unable right now, we are still grateful that you took the time to read this.
Willie & Roger (and the future videography team).
