Meet Willie “Nicca” Garcia. He is a father of three and is fighting Stage 4  Abdominal Myxoid Liposarcoma Cancer. Willie loves to play softball, loves to be around friends and most of all his three children. When he sees his children it reminds him that he is not alone; that he can’t just learn from them, that he must lead by example. In a crucible we discover what we are made of, so each day he fights cancer to give his children an example to never give up. Each day he wakes up thinking the worst and reminds himself to always hope for the best.

Each morning he tries to figure out how people survive what feels inconceivable stage 4 cancer.  But when he looks into the eyes of his children he reminds himself to never give up. To always keep fighting. He shows his children that even in the face of pain, confusion and the difficulty of beating cancer, life does not stop. We must continue to live; we must continue to be great parents. He shows us that we cannot stop just because life gets hard. We are supposed to save our weakness for the quiet hours of the night. Each day he fights bravely. Each night he confronts his fears.

Today I ask that we help a person who fights so hard each and every day.  Each day he lives to fight cancer. Today I hope we can join his battle and help him into a life of recovery.
