Hello Brooks Family and Friends,
We would like to give praise and honor to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who makes all things possible for each of us, every day. We cannot give enough thanks to our great-grand parents, grand parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters and extended family for the many sacrifices they made for us. Our great legacy resonates throughout Colleton County, Beaufort, Walterboro, Green Pond and Wiggins, South Carolina. It is a legacy of love, pride, joy and unity.
It is this legacy that calls us to restore the Willie Moses and Albertha Green Brooks Homestead in Wiggins, SC. This is a monumental task; but with God’s help, our homestead can be a beacon in the Wiggins Area, again.
Under the guidance of Aunt Bernice Shepard, a committee of family members are spearheading the task of restoring the Homestead. The committee created a non-profit 501(c)3 called the “Willie M. Brooks Homestead Foundation” with the primary focus of restoring the house.
You may be asking, “Why is this necessary? “What resources are available to pay for this?” Where will the “resources come from?” “What is the plan to accomplish this “monumental task”? First, we must do this to preserve the legacy of our ancestors for future generations. Second, we know that, “our God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory.” Third, the Committee with much prayer and guidance has worked hard to create a plan which will ensure, with your help, a successful completion. This is a great opportunity for our younger generations to learn about their past, witness their present and shape their future.
The Plan:
Phase One: Stabilize current Homestead. The homestead will be named, Willie M. Brooks Community Meeting House. This includes stabilizing the structure to prevent further deterioration from age and elements. The stabilization process has already started.
Phase Two: Receive the necessary resources from family member contributions, non-profit organizations, Family Dedicated “Brick” Fundraiser. Family member contributions can currently be made via our “GoFundMe” account or Zelle.
Phase Three: Restore the homestead principle house (Willie M. Brooks Community Meeting House)
Phase Four: Commend it for the use of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for His purpose.
Thank you very much for your participation, and May God continue to Bless you,
Willie M. Brooks Homestead Foundation
