To my VBC family,
Willie Langford-Mitchell and his family went to Pensacola for a much-needed family vacation during fall break. On the evening of Friday Oct 10th, Willie’s young granddaughter fell in a pool and was drowning. Willie himself did not know how to swim, but as any hero would, Willie jumped in the pool and was able to push his granddaughter to safety and ultimately saved her life, but at the cost of his own life. Willie has been an exemplary employee of Randstad, working in the kitchen for the last 10+ years under Executive Chef James Johnson. He was the nicest person to work with. He loved his job, he was always smiling, and he was a joy to work with. Willies dedication to his job and family was second to none and his presence in the kitchen will be greatly missed.
Willie’s home was home to 4 of his grandchildren and his son. Willie was a renter in his residence and now his family have some tough decisions to make over the next few months as they try to figure out their living situation. I am putting together a love offering from Willie’s VBC FAMILY with a goal to pay 2 months rent ($3200), to give them time to grieve their father/grandfather and figure out their next steps without having to worry about how they will have to pay the rent. Willie’s family does not have much money and were living check to check based on Willie’s VBC pay. Willie died a HERO, and I want to honor him by supporting his family with this love offering. My heart breaks for Willie’s family and I want to ask as many people that can help, to please help us raise money in honor of Willie. Anything over and above the 2 months rent will go directly towards Willie’s funeral expenses which will help the family more than you can possibly know.
Any cash monies donated can be given to Jimmy in the kitchen or Kevin in Admin. We have also created a go fund me and you can use the link below to donate. All funds will go directly to aid funeral costs and rent.
