Hi I’m Sammi-Jo, a mother of 4 and this here is our William boy. He has a rare kidney disease and suffered a stroke when he was 2 years old. We have been fighting for him for 2 years and have a long journey ahead, but at the moment we are trying to get through his treatments and struggles. We live 250 miles away from his hospital and get no financial support. If you can donate please do, it’s helping our medical family travel to and from hospital and make his experience in hospital and at home more manageable.

During the time of his diagnosis, treatment and recovery from his stroke we spent all lot of time off work, and as we are self employed we didn’t receive any sick or benefits to help us through. So we took out loans and used credit cards, which was essential for us as a family at the time but now we are £15k in debt, as result of a medical reason we had no choice in.

As much as we have worked more, we are in a constant battle with costs of travelling to hospital , parking, days off work, crossing fees etc. Add in the additional caring/support we provide and it’s near impossible. The next 6 weeks we visit Alderhey at least once a week, and he is undergoing infusions at the moment as he is in a relapse.

please donate to help us pay off the debt we have no choice in getting into but also anything will alleviate the financial burden of being a medical family who doesn’t have any financial support from the government.

Just to give an idea of how much costs:

£70 will cover one hospital visit travel cost (diesel fuel).

£30 will cover the cost of food for a day treatment. Or A toy or crafts to keep him occupied during treatment days.

£20 will cover the cost of a toy for William (he loves playdoh, crafts and drawing)

£5 will cover a little treat for William (he loves a hot chocolate from Costa!)

anything you can donate will go towards helping him and helping us cope with this additional cost that we don’t have a choice in. Anything we can pay off the debt we will, but initially this is to help with ongoing medical costs. We both work and have 4 children, who we want to continue to keep as normal as possible (how we do that I don’t know!) and we’ve tried our best to hold this cost on our own for two years, but it’s just kept adding up and we physically cannot work anymore with his additional needs we need support.
