As some of you all may know already I have been having pain in my right hip since the end of January. They have been bouncing me around from doctor to doctor for months but I've just continued to work and do what needed to be done. On May 1st they finally gave me an MRI and they found a tumor on my hip bone. After meeting with an orthopedic oncologist I was informed that the tumor was actually a little bigger than a grapefruit to put it into perspective. Fast forward a week to the 9th and I ended up in the hospital in Spartanburg with a fracture in my hip bone because my bones have become a bit brittle from the tumor. On the 11th they performed a biopsy on the tumor and on the 20th I received the final verdict on it. It's an Ewing's Sarcoma which is a rare type of bone cancer and it is malignant. They have already checked the rest of my body and my lungs and it seems currently it is only located in my hip in the original tumor. On the 22nd I went to Lexington Medical to have a bone marrow biopsy to see if the cancer is in the marrow as well. We're all hoping it hasn't because it will make everything a little easier to beat. I've been hesitant to put anything up but will all of this happening, the internet seems like the best way to update everyone. Now I also am hesitant to ever ask for help but as you can imagine, cancer is not cheap. Once the tumor was found I had to put in for medical leave and I could be out of work over a year because of this.
