The first week of September of 2020; 3-year-old William Bosley, the youngest son of Shawn and Loree Bosley, became ill with symptoms like those of a stomach virus. Although he did not have a fever, he continued to vomit frequently and was very lethargic. Shawn and Loree also started to notice that William was struggling to keep his balance when walking more than a couple steps. After taking him to their family doctor, William was diagnosed with a presumed viral infection, which the doctor indicated could take up to 3 weeks before they would begin to see improvement. His parents took him back to the doctor a week later, since his symptoms were showing no improvement, and he had been continuing to vomit several times daily; and could hardly walk on his own without falling. Their doctor determined that William needed to be admitted to the Columbia Children’s Hospital on 09-15-2020 due to being extremely dehydrated from the vomiting. William was put on an I.V. and a team of doctors was assigned to evaluate/diagnose his condition. The doctors ran several tests on William, over the next three days, but all the results came back negative. They were still not able to determine the cause of his illness. The doctors met with Shawn and Loree and notified them that they were concerned that William could possibly have a brain tumor, and the pressure from the tumor was causing the vomiting and the issue with his balance when walking.
On 9-19-2020 William had an MRI, which showed a brain tumor on the backside of his brain. William is scheduled to have surgery on Monday, September 21st, to biopsy and determine a better prognosis of his condition.
These last two and a half weeks have been extremely difficult and heartbreaking for the Bosley family. Shawn and Loree are amazing parents to three equally amazing boys, all under the age of 11.
Shawn and Loree have been married for twelve years. Shawn is a Marine who served our country for four years, and now works for Penske Truck Leasing. Loree works part time as a teacher’s assistant at her boys’ school.
William is loved by so many, but most of all by his parents and his two brothers: Patrick and Ethan. William turned three years old this last June, and celebrated his birthday with his two older brothers, friends and family by having a Nerf gun party at his church. William loves tractors, trucks, and did I mention tractors!!! It is very difficult to put into words how dynamic this little boy’s personality is, and how quickly he will make you fall in love with him.
I have started this GoFundMe to help cover the costs of Williams medical expenses, as well as the loss of family income, with Loree needing to be off work to be at the hospital with her son through this journey. It is unknown at this time, when William will be able to return home from the hospital, and what the next steps will be after the doctors determine the full extent of his diagnosis.
Amidst their pain and heartache, the Bosley family is finding support in the fact they are Christians, and they have a personal relationship with God. They are also surrounded by so many family members and friends that love them very much.
This family is a giving family, who has always done for others. What Shawn and Loree are going through, is a parent’s worst nightmare. They need to be able to focus on their family right now, the ability to be with William through his treatment, and not have the added pressure of the debt and/or inability to pay for treatment and/or their bills.
They need help from YOU- extended family, colleagues, neighbors, church members, strangers, community, and an untold number of friends. Any donation will help, no matter how big or small!
All donations will go directly to medical expenses and/or to assist in their cost of living expenses, as they move forward with William’s treatment. I will keep everyone posted on Williams diagnosis, treatment and status as we move forward. We will not continue to take donations, if it is determined they would exceed the amount needed to cover these costs I have outlined above.
Thank you in advance for prayers, and any donation that will help ease the pain for this difficult time the Bosley’s are going through.
