William son combat contre la Leucémie

Voici le parcours de William, un petit bonhomme au grand cœur avec un courage hors du commun.

En juillet 2024, William, 9 ans, a été hospitalisé d'urgence suite à une tumeur qui poussait rapidement derrière son oeil.

Rapidement, une leucémie de Burkitt lui fut diagnostiquée.

Malgré la progression fulgurante de cette maladie grâce aux soins extraordinaires de l'équipe d'oncologie et de pédiatrie de l'hôpital de Sherbrooke, la maladie fut contrôlée pour éviter le pire.

En dépit des nombreuses complications et épreuves traversées au cours des 6 mois de traitement, William n'a jamais abandonné le combat, touchant ainsi chacun des intervenants qui croisaient sa route.

A la fin décembre William avait complété sont protocole de chimiothérapie et tout semblait indiquer pour le mieux pour une rémission complète avec un infime probabilité de rechute, donc il eu congé pour enfin retourné a une vie familial a la maison.

Malheureusement, trois semaines plus tard, la leucémie a réapparu, muté et est encore plus forte qu'auparavant.

Alors même que l'espoir de rémission en cas de rechute était pratiquement nul, William s'est battu pendant 4 mois traversant les multiples séjours aux soins intensifs et symptômes de la maladie.

Aujourd'hui, à la fin avril, après 9 mois de combat, l'hôpital n'a plus de munitions pour venir à bout de cette terrible maladie. Le parcours de William se terminera sous peu à moins d'une intervention divine.

This is the journey of William, a small man with a big heart and an extraordinary courage.

In July 2024, 9-year-old William was rushed to the hospital with a rapidly growing tumor behind his eye.

Soon, he was diagnosed with Burkitt’s leukemia.

Despite the rapid progression of this disease thanks to the extraordinary care of the oncology and pediatrics team at the Sherbrooke hospital, the disease was controlled to avoid the worst.

Despite the many complications and hardships during the 6 months of treatment, William never gave up the fight, affecting each of the stakeholders who crossed his path.

At the end of December William had completed his chemotherapy protocol and everything seemed to indicate for the best for a complete remission with a tiny chance of relapse, so he had leave to finally return to a family life at home.

Unfortunately, three weeks later, the leukemia has reappeared, mutated and is even stronger than before.

Even though there was virtually no hope of remission in relapse, William struggled for 4 months through multiple intensive care stays and symptoms of the disease.

Today, at the end of April, after 9 months of fighting, the hospital is out of ammunition to deal with this terrible disease. William’s journey will soon end unless divine intervention is required.
