Divine Intervention: A miracle or act of God allowing something good to happen or stopping something bad from happening. As you all may or may not know, the Cummings family is living proof of such acts. On Tuesday, February 7th, William Jr. tried to take his own life. This, of course, was not God's plan and fortunately, the interventions began immediately; Makenzie and Lana found him lifeless and quickly went into action. Lana immediately began CPR while Makenzie called 911. EMTs arrived promptly, took over resuscitation efforts and were able to bring William back.
Since then, William has been hospitalized and diagnosed with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy or HIE. HIE is best described as oxygen deprivation to the brain resulting in damages that may or may not be recoverable (every case is different). The family has been told he will be hospitalized for a month, quit being so optimistic, William may not be able to walk ever again, and William will have cognitive deficiencies; the road of care may never end. Time for divine interventions 2, 3, 4, 5, 6... William CAN walk, William IS talking, and William HAS cognitive function. William has defied medical odds since his attempt and continues to be living proof that God is good!
The road to recovery is long and unknown. William will be transferred to a rehabilitation facility where he will continue on his healing journey. Makenzie, William Sr. and Lisa will also have paths to recovery; their lives forever reshaped as advocates giving support and testimony.
All of this comes at a cost we don't know yet. This is where we need another miracle. I invite friends, families, coworkers, congregations and acquaintances to give from their hearts and help lessen the financial burden of the Cummings Family. They are eternally grateful for the Meal Train, phone calls, gifts, prayers and support thus far. Let's help them not worry about the financial burdens. Together we can be part of miracle 7!
When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed. - Maya Angelou
