William (Bill) Burns

On Thursday March 21st, 2024 the Burn’s family was given some unsettling news. News that would turn their world upside down for an extended amount of time.

Bill was not feeling himself that week and he had a follow up appointment from a work injury, so he expressed his concerns to his Doctor. Bill’s platelet count was severely low and he was transported by ambulance to Methodist Hospital in Rochester, where he will stay weeks on end. Bill has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoid Leukemia. As of Tuesday March 25th, a game plan has been put into place for Bill’s treatment plan.

Bill has officially started chemo. He will go through 8 cycles of chemo with each cycle lasting three weeks at a time in the hospital with small breaks in between. He will also be getting two spinal taps each cycle in order to get the chemo to his brain.

With all of this, we are asking for financial help. Not only to fill the hardships with medical expenses, but also the strain of gas, parking and possible hotel stays. We do not want Shelly, Aaron and Alicia to worry about the day to day stuff, so the focus can be on Bill’s health.

Funds can also be sent to the Bank of Alma in either Nelson or Wabasha for the Bill Burn’s Fund.
