Will you help me buy a wig for my mom?
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, my mother was found to have a suspicious mass on her remaining ovary. On April 2, 2020, her remaining ovary was removed and it was found positive for cancer. The pelvic washings collected during the procedure also came back positive, indicating that the disease is metastatic.
It has been recommended that she undergoes 6 cycles of chemotherapy to minimize the cancer cells from spreading and growing. This will cause complete hair loss. Hair is a part of our personal identity and having to lose all of it without a choice is an incredibly traumatic experience. My mom has long, beautiful black hair that she is known for.
In anticipation of this event, I have been searching all over the internet for wigs since we can not physically go to any wig shops due to COVID-19. It has been very difficult to find a reputable site. Along with this, human hair wigs range from $1,000-$5,000. I have found a reputable shop but it will cost around $1,400-$1,800 for the wig to be made.
