Will Salem

Anyone who knows Will Salem knows that he is one of the most caring and giving human beings around. If you spend any time up at Wild Acres in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, then you know him as the pizza guy. You can’t walk, bike, or roll on by in your golf cart without Will offering you a pizza and likely a drink to go with it. He has spent the last couple of summers building a Gathering Oasis on their corner lot and welcome anyone that wants to stop by to chitchat, have a slice of pizza and or a drink and catch the game on the TV. He never asks for anything in return just that you’re happy and your belly is full. Here in Auburn, the Salem‘s hometown, it’s no different. You walk into their house and immediately Will ensures that you have a plate in front of you filled with food and whatever drink you desire. He checks on his neighbors and helps out with whatever they may need without question. With that, you can only imagine his devotion to his family. He is the consummate family man, always putting his wife and children first.

Recently, Will was diagnosed with stage three neuroendocrine cancer that came out of nowhere. This is a rare tumor. He’s gone through extensive abdominal surgery, and that alone will keep him out of work for quite some time. He’s going to need chemotherapy, which is going to be a minimum of six months of every other week treatment. it’s going to be very difficult for him to work and provide for his family as a result. He does have insurance, but there are always bills above and beyond that, we never account for until we become very ill. I for one know how giving Will is, as from the day I moved in next door, he has been nothing but an amazing help to me. He’s come over and helped showed me how to work my snowblower (without making me feel stupid!), to mowing my lawn, to cutting down some trees without hesitation. Anyone that knows Will knows that that’s exactly how he is and never asks for anything in return.

I’m setting up this Go Fund Me page because I think there are many of us out there who would, without hesitation, want to give back, in this way, to ensure that he and his family are financially secure during the most difficult time of their lives. This will help Will and his family focus on his healing and recovery and not have to have the additional stress of those dang bills that never cease to end up in the mailbox.
