Will Crossley - Seriously Injured During Rugby

Hi, we, the RAIDERS of the Proserpine Whitsunday Rugby Union Club, are reaching out to you for William “Will” “Bill” Crossley, local early 30’s father of 3 and Proserpine Whitsunday Rugby Union Club player and die-hard Raider since his Junior years. Sadly, Will sustained a serious injury during a Rugby home game. Will was airlifted to Townsville University Hospital and remains there for long-term care in the Sub-Acute unit (at this stage), pending possible relocation to Brisbane PA Spinal Unit. Unfortunately, Will currently has minimal feeling below his knees and still no signs of movement in his left arm. This is a very testing time for Will’s colourful character, family, and support network.

Our Raiders Family is reaching out to our community and local and regional Rugby Community to assist with fundraising via GoFundMe on Will’s behalf. Will is currently not in a great way, and contributions of any kind are welcomed. Funds raised will assist Will in the short-term while he remains in hospitals care, i.e., Rent expenses, transport of Will’s belongings to Townsville and general living expenses. Long-term, for assistance/carers costs and possible modifications to his home surroundings when he is rehabilitated and able to come home. At this stage, there is no set time frame on when that could be. Doctors have opted not to put recovery %’s for the short term, and Will could still be in Hospital care come Christmas. Long term, Will has a long road ahead, and we are all here to support him in whatever way we can for a positive way forward.

Will is a single father of 3 and an absolute rugby fanatic and rugby stat man!!! Will is well known amongst our local community and our wider Rugby Community. Will has supported Rugby from a young boy in the late 80’s, to playing Junior Raiders and is now a Senior Raider, Mackay Stingers Representative and Central Queensland Representative.

If you can find some extra funds within your budget or forgo your coffee or beer for the day, please know this will support a great young man with a long, testing road ahead to a positive and adjusted outcome.
