Wilks Family Fundraiser

There are few people in the Pittsburg and Girard communities that have not met a member of the Wilks family. Jon is a veteran of the Marine Corps and has been a Crawford County Sheriff’s Deputy for many years. Lori has been a teacher at George Nettles for over 20 years and has never met a stranger. Both have helped my family and so many others countless times. We have all cheered on their daughter McKenzie as she competed in high school and college track. For those of us who know their son, Grant, it is his shy smile and kind eyes that immediately come to mind. He is hard working and always willing to help even at a moments notice with moving, caring for our pets or home and even cooking alongside Kyle in the kitchen. He is a fantastic young man. We now have the opportunity to help him and his family in return. On Friday, September 23rd, Grant was in a serious accident. He was life flighted to KU where he is in serious condition. Treatment will be required for some time and involve multiple surgeries. The financial burden for him and for his family with lost wages, to stay close to him and help in his care is significant. I have seen the love and support this community provides to its friends and neighbors and ask that we support them financially and with constant prayer to give back a little of what they have all so willingly given us.
