Help Wiley Recover From a Brain Injury
Donation protected
On Thursday, June 9th, lighting designer Wiley Cutler passed out in his lighting booth at Cervantes' Other Side. He began to experience weakness on the left side of his face and in his left hand over the next few hours. After being rushed to the ER the next morning, doctors determined there was bleeding in his brain. Wiley has undergone numerous tests to determine the cause, but it is still unknown. Thankfully, Wiley has remained conscious, speaking normally, and hasn’t experienced any memory loss or aphasia. He is still experiencing weakness of his left arm and the left side of his face, and will need a month-long stay at an acute neuro rehab facility so that he can undergo intensive physical, occupational and speech therapy. Over the coming weeks, we hope further testing will tell us the cause of this incident and tell us if any further procedures are needed. During the healing process, Wiley will be unable to work and will likely incur many medical bills that will not be covered by insurance. In addition to this, his girlfriend Whitney has become the primary caretaker for Wiley and their dog Bugsy since their families live on opposite coasts, resulting in boarding fees, car expenses and missed work for the two of them. Wiley is the kindest, most helpful, hardworking man who is always the first to open a door or carry gear for someone with their hands full. He has been a lighting designer for more than a decade, working at Cervantes, Knew Conscious, and playing world-renowned venues like Red Rocks and countless others across the country while touring with Lettuce. Anything you are able to give will provide Wiley with the time to heal and get back to doing what he loves.
