Wildlife Shelters Victoria Bushfire Relief Fund

My name is Eva Hartmann and I voluntarily run a certified wildlife rescue and rehabilitaion shelter called Jillyara Wildlife Shelter out of my property in West Gippsland. With the devastating bushfires of the Gippsland region over the last month, I have been overwhelmed by the kindness, good wishes and support from Australian and international communities far and wide. Donations are desperately needed to help with the influx of wildlife that is starting to come in from these fires.

I mostly rescue injured kangaroos and wallabies, but also have extensive experience in treating burn victims over the years.

Joeys can take 6+ months to recover from burns, plus extra time to prepare them for release into a new location.

My aim, on behalf of the network of wildlife shelters I work with around Victoria, is to raise funds to purchase and distribute supplies to aid the rescue and rehabilitation efforts of animals caught up in these the devastating bushfires of the Gippsland region.

Donations received will be used for supplies and sent to local Victorian shelters in the coming weeks, where we are now starting to receive animals to be rehabilitated from these East Gippsland fires. Every donation in cash or supplies received really helps, as most shelters do not receive any meaningful ongoing financial support from Wildlife Victoria or the Victorian Government.

Feed alone, an ongoing expense with one 20kg bag of Kangaroo/Wallaby (Wombaroo) milk powder costing over $400, lasts around a week for a shelter like mine. Shelters also require supplies ranging from bandages, syringes, wipes, Betadine antiseptic, etc., the list goes on. All veterinary expenses, transport costs and all other costs must be borne by the Wildlife Shelter and carer as the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning does not provide any funding for such costs.

100% of all money raised will be used for the emergency relief and ongoing support of the animals at Jillyara Wildlife Shelter, and our network of Victorian Wildlife shelters rescuing and rehabilitation wildlife from the East Gippsland bushfires.

Please support in any way you can. Our precious wildlife will be grateful.
