Wildflower New York Charter School
Donation protected
Hello everyone! This week, for my birthday, I am asking my friends, family, and community members to help me raise $5,000 for our school. Please help me reach this goal by the end of the week! Every donation counts and will go directly to Wildflower New York Charter School. Please read below to learn more about our program!
Vision
Wildflower New York Charter School is a culturally and linguistically diverse neighborhood-nested, public Montessori charter school that provides children full attention to life and its requirements so they can author their own journeys in a space where joy, empowerment, humanity, interconnectedness, healing, balance, and harmony are at the core of their daily experiences. Our Montessori charter school consists of five Teacher-Led, Micro-Schools that serve children in Pre-K (4) through Third Grade.
Founded by educators from the Bronx and greater New York City area, our schools will offer a public and authentic option for the world renowned Montessori education methodology, grounded in culturally sustaining and critical pedagogy. This child-centered, hands-on-learning environment will foster education in areas of math, reading, writing, agriculture, geography, biology, history, social and emotional health, visual art, music, and more through the use of sensorial, beautifully and intentionally crafted materials. Wildflower New York Charter School is an anti-bias and anti-racist organization committed to education equity and liberatory education for our children, families, and community.
Montessori
Wildflower New York Charter School uses Montessori method of teaching and learning as a vehicle for liberatory education. The Montessori Method fosters rigorous, self-motivated growth for children and adolescents in all areas of their development—cognitive, emotional, social, and physical. In Montessori environments, the teacher has an unobstrusive role in classroom activity, guiding the child's learning; the child is an active participant learning. Children make creative choices in their learning, while the classroom and a trained teacher offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process. Children work in groups and individually to discover and explore knowledge of the world and to develop their maximum potential
Micro-School
We use an independent micro-school approach to learning that provides individualized care and attention to our children and their families. Wildflower New York Charter School is comprised of micro-schools which are approximately 24-30 in size with 1:10 teacher to student ratio to support learning and exploration time.
Community Based
We are a community-based environment where we encourage our students and their families to interweave with the local community.
