On July 24th, a fire, precipitated by a back burn, exploded into what has been described as a fire tornado, devastating the south end of Clinton, BC. and destroying Blake and Kristilee’s home, shop, vehicles, and nearly all of their belongings.

Blake and Kris embody the spirit of the Clinton community. Blake volunteers as President of the PAC and, over the past several years, has played a leading role in organizing the Clinton Rodeo. As a long-time, local realtor, he has helped countless families find places to call home throughout the region. Kristilee is a dedicated teacher at David Stoddart School who has positively impacted many local students. Together, they are two of the hardest-working people I know. They generously give their time, are always the first to lend a helping hand, and are the kind of people you can count on when you need them most.

After much convincing, they have allowed me to help them by creating this fundraiser on their behalf.

Life will not look normal for this family for months, and likely years, to come. They now face the daunting task of finding temporary housing for themselves, their two children, their three dogs, and their cats, while slowly rebuilding what was lost.

In addition to losing their home, Blake's career as a realtor has been placed on hold. Real estate is a profession built on relationships, trust, and being present in the community. While navigating the overwhelming process of rebuilding their lives, Blake’s business in the Clinton area has suddenly come to a halt due to the wildfires, resulting in a sudden loss of income at a time when they need stability the most.

Insurance may help rebuild a house, but it cannot replace cherished memories, irreplaceable keepsakes, or the sense of security that comes with having a place to call home. Donations from this fundraiser will help bridge the gaps not covered by insurance, assist with everyday living expenses, and provide Blake and Kristilee with the support they need as they begin the long journey of rebuilding.
