Wilder Onyx Wasden was born at 24 weeks on 10/06/2020 weighing 1lb 6oz (MicroPreemie). He was recently transferred over to the Riley NICU from Methodist NICU due to an infection. Wilder has been diagnosed with Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) which is a form of chronic lung disease, Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) which is an eye disorder caused by abnormal blood vessel growth (he had avastin injections on 1/6/21 and laser eye surgery on 4/14/21), and pulmonary hypertension. All funds received will help cover:
• Gas/travel expenses
• Needs for Wilder
• Expenses needed in the home in order to get him home in a safe environment
We want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and well wishes during this unexpected and difficult time. We also appreciate all the love and support we have received from everyone! We truly are surrounded by the most amazing people! ❤️
Update: Wilder is now 6 months old and still requires a ventilator to breathe for him. He had a tracheostomy surgery performed on 4/15 and has been doing great so far although he is still paralyzed and in a medically induced coma. He will be in that state for the next week and the doctors will try to lift his paralytics to see if he can handle being awake while maintaining his new ventilator settings. This will continue to be a long journey ahead of us and are on day #192 in the NICU and now day #2 in the PICU. We travel every day (50+ minute commute one-way) to visit him and spend as much time with him while juggling his three older brothers. Thank you again for all your support and help ❤️
