At the start of September, I will commence a 9-month immersion program at Wilderness Awareness School in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. This experiential education is second to none and will provide me the knowledge and skill set to manifest my vision of creating a rites of passage organization in Southern Appalachia. To get there, I’m asking for your support.
Life transitions are inevitable, typically multifaceted and multilayered, and impactful in virtually every area of our lives. Rites of passage are the rituals, ceremonies, and events which mark a transition in one’s life, leading to new roles, rights, and responsibilities in the community. On an inner level, they mean a new identity and self-transformation. Yet our current industrial culture lacks rites of passage to confirm significant life transitions. As young men and women are coming of age, mentors are not readily available to initiate the emerging generations into adulthood. With your help, I will become a nature-based guide and mentor, empowering young minds to claim their full human potential. I will be updating a blog along the way, so that you can follow me on this journey.
